Recommended things to do after our bike tour
Places to visit:
- See the House of Parliament inside; guided tours in English
- Visit the Great market hall (next to Szabadság bridge on Pest), try hungarian foods like Lángos, Rétes, buy souvenirs and tasty fresh fruits
- Visit the great synagogue of Budapest near Astoria and the jewish museum
- Take a walk in Castle hill – the oldest part of the city, you can go by funicular
- Go up to the Citadel on top of Gellért hill, go inside the fortress, enjoy the view – best at sunset, have a glass of wine ☺
- If you want some peace away from the city, go to the hills of Buda. Take the cog-railway (fogaskerekű, close to Széll Kálmán tér) ride with the small-gauge train, operated by kids (Gyermekvasút), get of at János-hegy, go up to the lookout tower, come back to the city by chairlift (Libegő)
- Visit the cave system under Budapest (Pálvölgyi barlang, Szemlőhegyi barlang)
- Go for a boat ride on the Danube
- Relax on Margaret island or go jogging on the 5 km rubber running track
- House of Terror for detailed history about communism
- Walk along the river at sunset

- Visegrád – Breathtaking fortress and view at the Danube-curve (2 hours away)
- Eger – Nice town in the northern hills, with good wine and old architecture (2 hours)
- Lake Balaton – The largest lake of central Europe, popular holiday destination; Siófok – to party, Badacsony – nice landscape, good wine (2-3 hours away)
