Ride your bicycle along the lower quay in Pest

bicycle in Budapest

For the first time this year, on the weekend of March 18-19, the lower quay in Pest will be open to those who want to exercise and relax. Those traveling on foot, by bicycle or scooter can use the quay section between Margit híd and Közraktár utca in a car-free environment.

Motorists are not allowed to enter this road section from Friday to Saturday until 11:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Until it is fully handed over, the Chain Bridge and the related sidewalk sections will continue to be considered a work area, therefore those traveling on the Pest quayside section can use the recommended pedestrian route after turning off at Széchenyi István tér, as indicated by posted information.
The wharf was last opened to the public in September of last year, and this year the popular tradition will continue on weekends and holidays from March 18.
Thanks to the open quay, Budapest residents and visitors can enjoy one of the most beautiful areas of Budapest, boasting a world-famous panorama, in a quiet, calm, car-free environment.
The BKK asks those using bicycles, scooters or skateboards to pay extra attention to adults and children on foot.
